Southend Untrue Rumors Eleven.

Glad to see I wasnt so happy about it

Maximum credit to the_saafender for his pessimism. Crazy thing is, in that thread about Ricketts, even TonyTheKray gets excited....maybe that has scarred him and caused his pessimism! Was South Bank Hank's little dance of joy at the signing similar to the truffle shuffle from the goonies in honour of Ricketts? Have DtS's tears of joy dried up?! :)

Holy ****!!!

ShrimperZone predicted line-up: (4-4-2) Gay, Broad, McSweeney, Cort, Kerrigan, Clark, Maher, Selley, Forbes, Whelan and Johansson.
SUBS: Flahavan, Szmid, Searle, Newman and A. Clark.

Incidentally isn't the first two named a lesbian New Yorker?

Why on Earth waste money on the Icelandic striker when we had a strikeforce of Thurgood and Newman. That has everything as a combo. Whelan can be pushed up top if necessary.

How dare Tilly not get us up automotically this year...he is macking a mockery of our club...

Paul Stewart in the early/mid 90's i believe? remember it cropping up in the Echo.

That one was actually true though so probably doesn't belong here. Peter Taylor had loan moves agreed by Liverpool for Paul Stewart & Mark Wright a couple of months after we signed Ronnie Whelan but the players turned the moves down.

As has been previously stated, Jonny Ekstrom has to be the biggest and the best rumour.

Dave Cusack was coming back to Southend, we heard that one althrough the season after he joined Millwall. Never did happen closest he ever got was being manager of Basildon United.
Richard Cadette was all set to resign for Southend from Sheffield United but went to Brentford instead.
Roy Mcdonough was all set to become Southend manager after Webb left in 1992 as he had led COLU to the Non-League double of conferencand FA Trophy. Thank goodness that was just a rumour!

Not quite a rumour but Don Howe was all set to become manager in 1987. By all accounts he came down to Roots Hall for a game and couldn't get away quick enough.
