Pre-Match Thread Southend Utd vs Southampton U21s -Checkatrade Trophy

What's your choice for Wednesday's starting 11?

  • Total voters
    84
  • Poll closed .
Tommy hasn't been back in touch. Do you think he is at RH trying to get in still? :Frustrated:

Full time.

Cambridge = 3 / Colchester = 1

Sounded a bit lively from the 81st minute. with 3 goals being scored.

So, we have to win 5-0 tomorrow, otherwise we'll be playing away in the next round.

Right, based on the way last season's draw was conducted, we can only play sides in Southern Groups E-H, so as things stand, if we qualify but don't win by five clear goals, we will play away to either :-

Cheltenham Town
Oxford United
Swansea City U21
Luton Town

If we do win with the margin required, we will be at home to either :-

Arsenal U21
Northampton Town
AFC Wimbledon
Peterborough United

Assuming U21 sides cant be at home? .... so maybe Swans home if we fail to progress by 5-0 win

Can Swansea U21 have a home tie? In the group games all the U21 sides played their games away from home.

The rules state that "invited clubs will play away in the group stages" but it doesn't say beyond this point.

In theory, Swansea City U21 could draw Arsenal U21, so they would have to play at home anyway.

Or is it 4-0... to go on the same goal difference, but go top on the head to head record V Cambridge?

Anyway, it matters not, neither way are we going to win 5-0 or 4-0 tomorrow night.

Actually, genuine question... when was the last time we kept a clean sheet and won 5-0?

Goals scored counts first I believe

How did Swansea U'21's top group O , with a -4 goal difference, and scoring just a single goal in the 3 group games is beyond me!!

I reckon, we might stand a chance against them.

So based purely on the above poll.. in & in no order of formation, our ShrimperZone would like our 11 players to be,...

Oxley - 40.3% (Teds out - 55.6%)
------------------

Elvis 83.3%
Moore - 77.8%
Kyps - 77.8%
Hendrie - 76.4%
Wabo - 61.1%
Hyam - 56.9%
Yearwood - 55.6%
Klass - 51..4%
Bunn - 51.4%
McCoulsky - 50%

It will be interesting to see come full time, how many Zoner's will complain that we got it wrong, if we didn't play them, or did play them and they played badly or brilliantly. considering we voted for them.

Either way..
