Just in front of me, absolutely no way, Bentley seemed to get a fingertip to it, Atkinson on the line headed it up on to the bar and it came back down just in front of him and then it was cleared.

How Little ended up with a free header in the middle of the box 8 yards out at a corner is concerning though.

He wasn't alone though. The guy who headed it over to him was unmarked too!

Anyone else wondering why Hurst needed to take an extra touch when their defender kindly put him through on goal?
Confidence?

I agree with you that he should have taken it earlier , but in fairness , I don't think he saw the defender who made a great tackle.

1st touch took him closer to the keeper, giving keeper more chance of closing angle, and gave defender the opportunity to make a great challenge. Didn't need that touch.

I am sure Phil Brown will be watching the DVDs of the Blackpool match & will point out to the players what need to improve etc

Gives us a average gate of over 6,000 now:thumbsup:

A 6,000 average home crowd so far is pretty good especially when you take into account the amount of away fans at Roots Hall, which is only about 340 on average. We still have our three 'big' local games which will boost the crowds a bit yet as well.

Was thinking exactly the same myself when I saw it. He should be dropped for that alone, never mind his first poor effort, nowhere near the target. Shadow of his former self.

Yet he in my view played pretty well and constantly got himself into good positions- and his finishing is worse than which alternative I wonder? Westy? We know from the past his finishing is actually pretty good and yes I am sure its a mixture of confidence and match time. Which won't be solved by not playing him or, as is the preferred Southend way, getting increasingly on his back. I watched the extended highlights back and some of his play was very good.

That's a bit unfair on Westy you know. As a regular poster on here I'm sure that Westy reckons he is a **** hot striker, but he is probably just as bad as the rest of us. Oh and Weston is a rubbish finisher as well!

If he had shot first time and missed, everybody would be asking why he didn't take a touch first! Unless he scored he was never going to be right, i thought he had a good first half.

Apparently it is due to FA instructions after previous pitch incursions by Blackpool fans protesting against Oyston.

Some guy got escorted out during the second half carrying an Oysten out banner which he took down after we scored. Couldnt work out why he was taken out though, didnt seem to be causing any trouble, yet was taken out around the edge of the pitch

No ones asking for him to have shot first time. One touch and shoot would have been the right decision, the issue is that he unnecessarily took 2 or 3 touches before trying to shoot.

It was a poor decision from Hurst but we won the game so there's no point in getting on his back about it now though

In your opinion. You weren't in his position, you don't know how he was balanced, how he was set up etc. I don't think Hurst had a good or bad game, middle of the road really. He didn't score, but what he did do was get in the right positions to get chances. If you aren't doing that, you won't even get a chance to score, so give Hurst a bit of credit

I don't have to have been in his position to realise that taking so many touches that you eventually get tackled when you had only the keeper to beat wasn't the right decision.

A lot of football pundits and journalists would be out of work if everyone followed your logic that people can't comment on anything unless they were in that exact position.

Yeah, so we've got a player who proved over a long time that he possesses real quality, and you agree that his problem is lack of confidence, and your solution is to immediately drop him for not being confident?

Really???

:omg:
