Surely the sensible thing was to give GS 2 year deal with the option of a further period.

And.. Steve Holland (Chelsea's assistant first team coach) has been named England assistant manager on a permanent basis. I'm not sure how long his contract is for, but im' guessing it would be on a similar timescale as Southgate.

Hence why the national team are frankly an embarrassment,the bigwigs who run the game are completely nuts,their choices are beyond belief.

Southgate was desperate for the gig and would have agreed to any deal to secure the job...the FA should have told him "Russia quarter finals are the minimum requirement,if you steer them to this,you can have the next tournament "
