Sportsmen who've divided opinion

With the current discussion about Steve Harmison and the pros and cons of him being reselected for England it got me thinking about other sportsmen who've had such wide ranging opinions about their selection for the national team or similar.

From a footy point of view, John Barnes and Matt Le Tissier spring to mind, has there been another sportsman who's divided opinion so much in experts, media and general fans as much as Harmison?

Austin Healey... not merely was it difficult to decide whether to pick him or not; but, if you did, whether to play him scrum half or on the wing...

Billy Paynter
Gary Hooper

Michael Schumacher - Arrogant German prat or motor racing genius.

Andy Murray is someone I think is a jumped up Scottish mug, yet a lot of people seem to love him.

Nick Faldo was never particularly popular. Far too successful for some people's liking I suppose. Having said that, I really can't warm to Kevin Pietersen, wonderful player though he is.

Glenn Hoddle - approximately 50 caps for England IIRC. An elegant player who many felt was hard done by when Sir Bobby Robson was England Manager...
