Maybe he doesn't want to sign given the terms offered. It would explain why he is on the naughty step and not in Spain

However Wabo was training & playing for us & he scored (V Fulham) in our U23 pre season games back in the green and pleasant land, whilst the other senior lads were away in Spain.

I hope we get another year out of him.

I think he is good enough to be consistent for the JPT (or what ever it's called these days?) and the other early rounds of other cup competitions. So that should be a good run out. Add to that, loan him out again (preferably to a local lower Div 2 club or local National League side) and look again at the end of the season to make a proper to decision, whether to offer him a long term contract at the club, or release him.

I tweeted Chris Phillips last Saturday and asked 'Has Wabo signed a new contract?' and he replied saying 'He had another year activated on his deal so he can't go anywhere. He was offered another year on top of that too I believe.'

Something doesn't sit right for me for talks to be this drawn out and to not go to Spain. As said above, like he's on the naughty step. Wabo's a confident kid, I hope he doesn't believe his own hype too much his agent for that matter.

We look as if we're not going to have the kind of situation we had at the end of the season just gone this time around. Most are under contract or have options so just a few key ones to concentrate on.

Perhaps he (Wabo) feels he can do well this season so one option would be to leave any contract extension talks until December and he might get a better deal ................ clearly a risk but when you are younger (sweeping generalisation warning) you don't always see the "downside" so clearly.

They also have a Kyprianou in their squad (Hector) from Leyton Orient... I wonder if he is related to our very own Harry?.....I would imagine so.

It shows that CP has largely had the opportunity to reshape the squad as he saw fit, with the partial exceptions of out wide and in central defence.

He signed a 1 year deal with a 1 year option in July. I thought he did well that night and expected to have seen him in and around the squad but he doesn’t turn 19 til next year so one the club have an eye on for the future maybe...
