I posted on here recently that I felt the squad needed a couple more players to be a serious promotion prospect and was assured that Tilly had players in line to bring in on loan if necessary. Clearly that policy is flawed. Accordind to the official web-site we have 26 players, well 27 if you count the two listed number twelves. The list includes Broughton at Wycombe, Steven Clark in Toy Town, Michael Kightly at Farnbrough and Michael Husbands in suspended animation. It also lists Nick Morgan, James Lawson and Stuart Williams who make up Boyzone and cheeky little Terry Alderton who will be Pope before he plays for The Mighty blues. Add the injured God that is Jay Smith to the crocked Mark Gower and you come to the reason the unfit Jimmy Corbett is on the bench. Its because he is the only one left. So we can muster 16 players that we would use, a team and five subs. Any more injuries and I can see the wheels of our promotion bus coming well and truly off. So Tilly, whom I admire and if I were a girly would gladly have his babies, pull your finger out of your proverbial and unload the dross and reload with players you might make favourites and play.

It is concerning, but when the rumors about Norwich offering us a lot for Eastwood and i said we take it as we could add to our squad i got talked down as being mad.

probably because this rumour is completely untrue. why when they already haveone greedy player in huckerby do they want another who is not half as good as him either.

it's all lies, ignore paper talk.

If a player doesn't want to come to Southend that's hardly Tilly's fault - the same applies (obviously) to all other clubs and managers as well.

You are right but fewer players want to come on loan and if we are to seriously challenge for promotion then we will need a couple of extra permanent players. At this point, if the club has genuine aspirations, we should be adding to the squad to bolster our challenge and with an eye on League one next season. The threadbare bunch we have at the moment will not keep us up unless additions are made, so why not now rather than later?. Unless there is no faith in our promotion credentials or no further ambition.

I agree with you entirely. Reasons for players not wanting to make a move a manyfold. Apparently Ipswich wanted to sign a Norwegian player but his girl friend had just started a degree in Oslo and he preferred to be with her.
Yes we do need to strengthen the squad but maybe that old bugbear, £££, will raise its head. Maybe SUFC should do the lottery!
