I read we were under an embargo regarding when we played Preston in the cup last season and that we hadn't given them the match revenues or something.

Whats your answer to that Ron?!...

"Target identified"..... So ****ing sort it.

He's not the first is he......... weren't there a couple of other players training with us with a view to signing at the start of the season? Lucky they weren't identified targets. :winking: They waited a while before b*******g off to find other clubs. Starts to make nonsense of Ron's statement ......Saint Paul Sturrock has done wonders with little means......he can't be expected to do anything with no means at all.

Spot on Yogi and that particular paragraph in that "Statement" is what has really wound me up. It's bang out of order on Sturrock and another attempt to pull the wool over the eyes of us fans.

That's unlike RM to put the blame on someone else for his own shortcomings - might be the same reason why we can't keep honest and open CEOs???:whistling:

And as I've said 100 times previously, OK - Ron goes tomorrow. HOW WILL THAT CHANGE ANYTHING?

For God's sake it's really simple. We get promoted to the Championship, fans demand Ron and directors put loads of cash to buy x player/s. Ron and directors can't/don't: bad Ron, he doesn't give a toss. We get relegated and have loads of expensive players we can't afford. We don't pay them. Supporters: bad Ron, please leave now and forgo the cash you've put in. Supporters would have gambled to keep the club in the Championship, Ron did the same and is pilloried.

In short, Ron going won't change a thing! Happy days

What if someone like Cowling owned us who could afford to do so ?

That would change things.

Ron Martin can not afford to run a football club, other people can.

Ron isnt 'pilloried' for gambling in the championship, which was 5 years ago (all of the expensive players were released over 2 years ago.). He is criticised for not being able to run the club now

1. Where is the queue of rich peeps just dying to take over SUFC so they can watch 60-100k disappear out of their account every month? The fact that some clubs have rich owners is entirely irrelevant to this discussion. We don't, and we have no realistic prospect of attracting one.

2. Rhubarb. Ron is pilloried for his whole record over the last 5 years, not just the last couple. If he hadn't alienated so many fans over the relegation from the Championship, and subsequent issues like non-payment of popular players, nerve-racking visits to the Winders court, and non-appearance of the new stadium, he wouldn't be getting nearly the stick he is now.

Ron has hardly had any stick compared to the Rubins and Jobson. Ron has got away with it lightly.

That's a matter of opinion, and I would disagree with you there.

The difference is that the only way of expressing ire with the owners in the old days was to chant from the stands or stage a sit in after a match (anyone remember the police horses coming out to the edge of the pitch because we was being naughty in the West?). Nowadays, everyone vents on forums like this instead - but I think Ron is more universally hated than Jobson was, which is some achievement.
