Apart from the ridiculous smoking ban, heres another thing that really hacks me off.
My son - 6th form student, has been excluded from school for 1 day. His crime was walking into class with chewing gum in his mouth.

Why not just tell him to get rid of it? Instead the teacher had a meeting with the head of year who phoned my wife with the bad news.

FFS, its a pathetic rule, but even more annoying whats the point of a punishment which results in him getting a day off?

The banning of a harmful drug in public place where it can cause death to others is surely the country moving to a better place for everyone to live. And schools are turning power mad i agree with that

The ban I agree with, but that is just plain dumb.

A day of exclusion for that is increadible!! How ****ing stupid is that!!!

What was he doing walking into class chewing gum anyway?!
They have a class in a separate building about 10 minutes walk away from the school. He chewed a gum and didnt get rid. hardly a crime is it?

No, it's not. But a bit of common sense might have not gone amiss. Still, I remember when I was at school, one couldn't chew gum on the premises at all. I suppose some things have been relaxed ...

Bloody hell I thought they were treat you more like an adult in 6th Form. When I was in college we used to call teachers by their first name and could do what we want really.

What school steveo ?
My kids went to heycroft, only wrench moving to france was taking them out of a great school. That was til we got them in school here,in england it was pay pay pay,no hot dinners, asking for money for the pool and even books.
Here its a four course hot dinner,a trip every other week and only four days at school, they love it.
You dont know how bad britian is til you leave.

Not if my daughter catches them, she must be the softest perfect ever in shsb history.

What school steveo ?
Greensward in Hockley, the first school to intorduce the 5 term year, but when they did it the local primary schools didnt follow suit, so the school year at greensward would have run at a different time to the primaries so they ended up with some half and half thing.

Haha, good old Greensward, use to go there, and my sister teaches there now. Which teacher was it if you don't mind me asking? I'm intrigued :p
