Echo News Steven Reid is keen to be the next Southend United boss

I really think the time was right for Powell to go. He looked like a completely broken man at the end. The Kevin Bond appointment is up there with the worst in our history and we’ve had some ****e!

The way CP was treated by some fans was a disgrace but your right it was the right decision. Not just CP but the players had also given up.

Ron needs to get this right.

I’m still in the camp that of all his managerial decisions made over the last couple of years the worst one was still to sack Chris Powell.

very closely followed by employing Sol Campbell.

Then followed by not giving Gary waddock the job.

In fact this may come as a shock but I’d still put employing Kevin bond behind all three of those other decisions in terms of being bad decisions ?
I personally would have kept Powell even if we went down. And nothing that has happened since makes me think I was wrong about that.
But appointing Kevin Bond and backing him is as bad a decision as any football club has ever made.

I honestly don't think Chris Powell wanted to stay any longer, no doubt he loves the club but looked a broken man in the last few games, was sad to see.

I think that's a fair point. It really seemed to drain him, and I don't blame him. But I still think he's a decent coach, manager and we've done worse since he's left
