SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown has told his out of favour players to show they should earn a first team recall when they line up against Gillingham at Roots Hall this afternoon.

Michael Timlin is a good player but he ain't as big a loss as PB is suggesting. When did he last play? When was he last involved in a game we won? How successful has the team been in his absence ( apart from last two games)?

It's nice to have him available but he is not the messiah or an excuse for recent failure that PB can trot out and then hail glory days ahead when Tims is next on the team sheet.

So if Jason scores a treble and is outstanding he then might make the bench and if he is very lucky may get the final 30 seconds.

Bit pointless this. Good for a bit of fitness but the players currently in the first 11 aren't doing enough to keep hold of the shirts bar imo Payne and before Doncaster, Thompson so I'm not sure what else needs to be done for there to be serious changes at Swindon

Personally think Timlin is the one we miss most out of ANYONE in the squad when he doesn't play.

Luckily that definitely will not happen, because he is **** (at the moment)

4-0 at half time. McLaughlin has got 2, Timlin got 1 and Williams is claiming a deflected shot as his goal.

SUFC have got this down as an U21 game? Gillingham have probably sent their kids and we are playing 8 of the first team squad. 4-0 at half-time, and according to CP, Ted Smith has touched the ball once in the first half. Other than a bit of fitness, am not sure exactly what this going to show PB.

6-0, Hurst.

Would hope Timlin, McLaughlin etc may be taken off early to save them for Saturday, seems they could get their deck chair out and have a break and still win.

It will give PB a problem, he has said many things recently about team selection; and may have to look to change - maybe -

I kno you are very 'goals foccued', so if we are winning 7.0 then you would not expect Williams to have scord more than just one from a deflection ?. Of course the match isn't over yet

Well based on this result and PB's "threat" the entire usual starting line-up should be replaced at the weekend with these world beaters...
