Latest Rumours Transfer Rumours Thread (Potential New Signings)

Bromley will probably play Hackett-Fairchild as a central striker, something MM never attempted.
Can’t see that happening when they have last seasons top marksman and currently the NL’s record scorer (still playing in the NL) at centre forward.

Yeah, seems to be. We can't compete with the likes of Wrexham and Stockport.

We can. Ron can't. Agents will recommend their players go elsewhere even for less money. Who can blame them. I wouldn't take a job working for him.

Whatever league we are in we are going to be at a disadvantage than other clubs in that league down to woeful reputation. This is why PBs 'pulling powers' is critical.

Well that’s devastating! Money talks in football no matter what people say. But I’d rather we be more careful with it and don’t fall into our usual trap. Let these idiots splash the cash and hopefully we will buy sensibly and earn our way up.

Money usually has everything to do with it.
It also might be my imagination but it seems that even in the top tier of non league football players seem less inclined to move any great distance.
The big spenders in this league tend to be located in the north, whilst there are a number of players settled in the south not keen to move home and family.

To be honest with the cost of housing having risen so high these last few years, it's little wonder that people favour staying in the North where a similar wage can be the difference between having an apartment here, or a family home there.

I think that it is well known that the lower down the leagues one goes, the less mobile will be the potential targets - this is exacerbated by the lower wages and if there is only a short term contract on offer.

Even in Division 3, we have had players wanting to return closer to their place of birth rather than stay with us. C'est la vie, no?

Having said that the population of London is in excess of 9 million so there is quite a large "pool" of people quite close to consider.

Many players in NL will not just depend on football to provide a source of income. They will have a job or a trade which will not only augment their earnings but also reduces the incentive to move very far. If you have a reasonably well paying job and can land a contract with an NL side the combined incomes might be well in excess of the average L2 wage. Which is why we may discover the standard in the NL is not much of a drop from where we were just relegated from.

true, but I think most teams in this league are full time. it's very much another division of the football league these days
