A very decent keeper available at present is Ethan Ross who was released by Lincoln and spent half of last season on loan to Weymouth. If you look at his stats as regards appearances you wouldn’t think so but he was very popular during his two years with us. Standing 6 feet 5 he commands his area and just needs a break at a club, he did really well when given the chance at Weymouth. He was unlucky with us playing as a back up to Dean Gerken who hardly missed a game, he had similar misfortune at Lincoln. I suspect Weymouth may try and sign him permanently, but he will make a great signing for someone if given the chance to impress.

Re. goalkeeper discussions, when I read "league standard", I hoped it might be Josh Vickers, but I now see he's committed to a new 2-year contract at Rotherham despite having not played a single competitive match for them in his first season there last season, and despite the club preferring to bring in a loan goalkeeper than play him.

Personally I would like to see Seaden given a chance this season but appreciate he has no experience.

Chicken & egg situation - he doesn't have the experience & so doesn't get a game .... and so doesn't have the experience.

Perhaps he might get a few games in the L.D.V. trophy games ......... oh, hang on a minute ......

Joss Labadie is clearly a talented player but there is a real risk is that he would absorb too much of Southend's budget when is basically an aging injury prone player.
