yes the chap from that Scottish team Brown signed, a seasons salary and never kicked a ball, I wonder what that adds up to..think we paid a fee too, so agent fees there.

The agents represent the players not clubs so any player we sign who is represented by an agent will command an agents fee regardless if the player is contracted to a club or not.

Oh well, I suppose our finances can't be that bad if we can afford to waste a quarter of a million on grubby agents.

Football should collectively refuse to indulge these people. If players want to be represented by agents, as is their right, they should pay them.

That's essentially what the agent fee is though, it's us paying the player so they can pay the agent the fee he wants. If clubs refused to pay agent fees then the agent would just bill the player directly, which means the player would have to ask us for a signing bonus so he can afford to pay the agent, so we'd essentially just be paying an agent's fee under a different name. The only differences would be that instead of a football club (that has negotiating experience) sorting out the agent's fee it would a footballer with no idea what he's doing sorting out the agent's fee, which probably means the agent fee would be a lot higher than it is now. At least with clubs negotiating the fee themselves they can have some control over how much they'll pay.

It would be interesting to see the transfer spends and annual wage bill for each club as well, I'm almost certain we wouldn't be as high on either of those tables. What does that tell us though? Could there be an element of "persuade your client to sign for us and we'll make it worth your while"? Our agents fees have to be the most disproportionate in relation to what you'd assume our wage/transfer budget would be.
