Sunderland are building a pretty good squad for next year and could see them finishing mid table. Just signed Steed Malbranque from Spurs.

Missed out on Kaboul though. Classic quote from Roy Keane just now on Setanta:

"There is news from Kaboul in that he wont be coming to Sunderland. We wish him all the well with his career. Perhaps I should've taken him to a Casino until 4 in the morning like another manager allegedly did."

Look for him at Pompey, then!

Said exactly the same earlier to my mate when we were watching them tonight on the tv. I think they are going to stay up easily and maybe even break into the top half of the table if they play their cards right.

They are now a bit of a different side to the one we smashed in the opening weeks of our championship season. I like them but mainly because of Keane who I rate very highly as a player and now as a manager he says it as it is. I like that.

What does Keane expect Stoke to do though? Agree to the guy's request for more money? A trial is just that, a trial, they liked him enough to make an offer, he asked for more, they declined - surely that's their right. If the boot had been on the other foot, Keane would have nodded, smiled sweetly, given the guy a big hug and said "of course, you can have what you like!" Yeah, right!

That image of Keane may haunt my dreams for weeks to come
