Zone Update Sunrise to Sunset Charity Match - We did it!

Thinking about it now, standing up against that fence in formation in the team talk, it did seem quite tight for space.

It would have been a lot tighter if I was in the formation.

Chaps , well done to all that played , i intially put my name down but later realised this clashed with my last game of the season which was a title decider so no getting out of it .

The fact that i'm in the later of my footballing career and can't walk after games nowadays and plus the fact we got right on the beers after winning the double meant that i missed out .

Would still like to make a donation and now that my season is over if there are any more kickarounds or training sessions then i'll defo be up for it and i will way out the dough .

Sorry and well done fellas.

"Big thanks to shrimp and 2 veg for showing us how , despite being a vet, that skill and endeavour can be shown after years of playing at a top level"

...Gee Ken, you're making me blush!

Great game yesterday chaps, thanks for the invite.
Loved it during the team talk when we discussed we were to play with 3 central midfielders, then after 5mins of play i found myself alone in the middle and looking up saw 5 strikers instead:D
Gutted about the first 2 goals against us, blatant offsides that put us on the back foot straightaway! Still, with no linesman you can't blame Brushy's boy as the stand-in referee (although i wound him up proper about it;))

Nice to meet fellow 'Zoners, everyone seemed a great bunch.
My carpet-burned thigh could be scarred forever but i'm certainly not even in the same league as SBH with those knees of his.

Only one question remains....

When is the rematch?

It was a top day all round, I couldn't believe the amount raised at the end. A brilliant effort by all who organised it, I found the .com game a bit of a struggle towards the end as everything was coming down the right to me! and also the fact that all your players seem to drift over to your left didnt help matters either!

Well i am still aching all over and i could only be there till 12.30!!! However, playing around 4/5 hours of football by midday certainly took its toll on me. Thanks to all for their kind donations and for turning up to support us. Hope to stop aching by the morning though i somehow doubt that lol

Ken i'd be intrested in your astros i need a pair and im size 11, my knee after the match and coming on was sore haha but playing through the pain was well worth it, the grounds very unforgiven not much bonce so my knee was in for it. ken which team would that be ill join them ;) Ken top gaffer was an honour playing for you

Very well done everyone. Sounds like a fantastic day, wish I could have come along to add moral support (my old house is just down the road from there and my daughter used to play Tiny Tots football in the gym next door).

Did you manage to get any press interest? If you do get an article in the Echo then if someone could scan and post it up I'd love to see it, as would other exiles I'm sure.

Andy, the Echo came and took quite a lot of pictures as well as some information, so hopefully something will appear in the next few days.

One funny moment for me, was at 5.15am I was in the building putting up some posters when a certain GNH bowled down the car park with huge smile informing me he had just left the Casino and had a few little drinkies :D

Think we know which one he means though! To be fair Rob played brilliantly both in and out of goal - you all did - I think the Pride of the Zone surprised the Is with just how much of a game they gave them. Not quite the whitewash they were expecting! Oh and apologies to Dave and whoever else (wasn't sure who) it was that my son's mate fouled - bit over zealous!

cheers OBL, luckily, he didnt connect quite as bad as it looked/sounded. Also thanks to Shrimp & 2 Veg for apologising on his behalf at the time, lol.

I really enjoyed the match at the end, managed to find a bit of second wind from somewhere!

still aching, took twice as long to walk to the station then usual!

I think I found my 5th wind for that last match! Helped by knowing the final whistle was approaching! Was impressed by the performance of the SZ.com team, especially seeing as they didnt really know each other. RobM pulled off some cracking saves and Shrimp and Two Veg looked like he has played at a good level before, always wanting the ball in the middle of the park.

SZFC is always looking for players, especially posters from this board (Which is how I got involved).....for the younger players, pre-season training will no doubt start in June / July, and for the older players we are looking to set up a vets side in the near future!!

Its now Monday and I still ache. Not looking forward to 5 a side tonight.

South Bank, have the knees stopped bleeding?!!

South Bank, have the knees stopped bleeding?!!

Seriously no, they're still weeping. I left the house about an hour ago to go to the office then thought better of it and came back. Ridiculously, I've not been able to find any guaze patches big enough to cover the wounds and I don't want to ruin a suit!

To make matters worse, my left ankle is swollen with one of those big purple bruises that looks like it's been drawn with a ruler. Putting on my shoes this morning was not fun!

:(

South Bank this is the stuff I was talking about on Saturday

main_426.jpg

Elastoplast Spray Plaster...Up to 40 applications.

One solution for all grazes and minor cuts.

Very skin friendly.

Forms a transparent, flexible, breathable film to seal out water, dirt, and bacteria.

The waterproof spray plaster stays on for more than 2 days and is suitable for use on all body parts, including awkward places such as knees and elbows.

The skin-friendly plaster covers the wound like a second skin and allows natural healing.

When I used it, it helped stop me from sticking to my clothes or bedding.

Thanks Andee!

I actually sent Mrs Hank out on Sunday to go looking for that but, for some reason, the chemist persuaded her against it in favour of the gauze strips (which looked huge in the packets but weren't big enough in the end).

Your stuff would've been useful today definitely but thankfully I'm not in the office now until Friday so all good in the end.

Well done to everyone involved today, really was such an amazing day. It was a long day but a truly unbelievable and thoroughly enjoyable event.

A staggering amount raised which is testament to the club and the people involved at the core of it. Thanks to all who contributed to this event (Best. Birthday. Ever.).
