Supermarket own-brand beer

Biere de Belgique at ASDA is as good as any other canned lager (apart from the Polish ones) in my opinion. £3.80 for 4x500ml is good value and it has a good belgian style - hints of both stella and leffe, but very sessionable.

Any other recommendations for the frugal and discerning home drinker?

What Rich said. The Co-op bottled beers are generally very enjoyable, apart from the honey one, but I don't like honey beers!

Sounds good. Sadly my local Co-op is now a B&M Bargains. Will have a look next time I'm in a Co-op.

I'll second that. On the occasions i visit Asda, i always buy a pack of this and it's a decent brew.
