Question Surprisingly good sporting events

Volleyball is big over here as well. I remember being miffed one night as I sat down at a bar expecting the evenings Premiership action to find the locals were already glued to a volleyball match between Thailand and Japan ladies. I ended up getting quite into it myself and when they finally switched back over to Stoke vs Fulham my excitement levels didn't hit those dizzy heights.

I enjoyed volleyball when I saw it at the Olympics. Far superior to the beach version of the game.

Have enjoyed all of those that Pubey lists.

Would add Greco-Roman wrestling to the mix. Went at the London Olympics and there was a great atmosphere (we were sat near some bat**** mental Japanese fans). While not easy to understand at first, we really got in to it by the end of the afternoon.

To be honest the Greco-Roman was about the only thing I saw at the Olympics which I didn't enjoy.

On the other hand I'd watch Handball any day of the week if it were an option (particularly if the Norwegian women's team were playing like they were the last time I watched it...)

Handball at the Olympics was awesome. Very fast and physical game. I also liked the fact that the 'shot clock' wasn't timed, but was at the discretion of the ref, so he just blows up when he is effectively bored of an attack!
