Sweden vs England 15:00hrs Saturday 7th July 2018

We deserve to be in the lead and Sterling is having his best game so far, I just hope his inability to score doesn't cause us some damage as the game goes on.

We really are set piece specialists. Sterling desperately needs a goal I really hope he gets one.

I remember when you could go for wee, get a pint, do the Times crossword, anything you like when we had a set piece and nothing would come of it. Not anymore though.

I was just saying Dele Alli has done **** all and needs to come off..... and then he scored!

And didn't we just deserve that.....so very well played England.....and yes, it's coming home!!

In the end I heard it on 5 live. On the opening 20 mins, one of the commentaires remarked, "Belgium v Brazil, it isn't!" Well, I suppose you can only beat what's in front of you.......and at the start the Swedes didn't want to play.

I haven’t really been on the it’s coming home bus but I’m starting to get a good feeling now. I think we will definitely get to the final! I think we will fair better against France than we will Belgium. Pickford, Trippier, Walker, Stones, Maguire, Young have all been class!

Fair enough.Certainly England's performance against Sweden was their best of the WC so far. However the 1990 and 1966 teams were much better.
Why do you feel the need to be downbeat after that win Barna? It was a great result, celebrate it!

Seriously, whats your problem TUIB..

Your posts constantly promote negative comments, be it Brexit, Goverment or even our national football team.

Yeah, we get it, your an Ex-Pat and you love your lifestyle outside of England, as does my brother that lives in Perth Australia, but the difference is he misses and still loves our country with a passion, be it supporting our national football, Cricket or Rugby team, as well as politics.

He wants the best for us, where you seem to have a passion to want us to crash and burn at every opportunity, & in every aspect of life.

Take back all I said about this squad before the tournament, Southgate has put together a team of players that believe in him and in each other.

Sterling had a great game today, but for his finishing we'd have all been waxing lyrical - I'm not his biggest fan, but when allowed to play as he does for City, he proves to be more effective. Pickford, Kane, Maguire, Stones, Young and Henderson have all been on top form throughout, and today was no exception.

I thought Lingard was a little quiet today, and goal apart Dele Alli still didn't produce half the kind of display we expect but the right team mentality is there - don't stop believing, it really is #cominghome!

Personally I thought once again Henderson was poor and his constant moaning at the ref is very childish. Someone needs to grip him about that because he will continue to pick up silly, pointless bookings. Kane was pretty oblivious today I bare saw him and forgot he was playing.

Lingard is a hell of a player and when on his game can be a real threat. I would love to see Rashford have more game time as I think he would partner Kane well up front.

But who cares at the moment even though some up the top aren’t performing or hitting the net we are still grinding out results and well only 3 words left to say IT’s COMING HOME!

Pickford made a couple of super saves this afternoon, am starting to think he’s almost as good as the Ox.

Roll on Wednesday, team spirit in the team is amazing ! we can surely roll Russia or Croatia over. Can’t we...

Don't agree with that at all, he played numerous balls forward that helped us get up the pitch, if Sterling had scored that goal at the end of the first half he would have had the assist of the tournament. Henderson also made a vital block in the penalty box, otherwise Sweden likely would have scored.

When Henderson went off Sweden looked a lot more dangerous, I know that they had to go attacking to get a goal but I think the lack of Henderson's workrate was a big factor in that as well, he's the Leonard of the England squad.
