8 tracks (liable to change on a daily basis, but for now I'd say):

Brown paper bag - Roni Size
Lost in the Supermarket - The Clash
Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division
(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay - Otis Redding
So What - Miles Davis
Sympathy for the Devil - Rolling Stones
Timeless - Goldie
What's Going On - Marvin Gaye

Book: Catch22 - Joseph Heller

Luxury item: I considered scuba gear but in the end opted for my computer. That way I could have my entire music collection rather than be limited to 8 tracks and I could also sell off The Complete Works of Shakespeare on ebay and replace it with something better. Having a computer would also enable me to fire off angry e-mails to Radio 4 producers about how pretentious they are in including the complete works of some obsolete 16th Century version of Barbara Cartland, rather than something worthwhile.

Horace Silver - Song for my father
Thelonious Monk- Ruby My Dear
Blue Mitchell - Assokam
De La Soul - A Roller Skating Jam Named Saturday
Gershwin - Rhapsody in Blue
Ian Dury and the Blockheads - Inbetweenies
The Jam - Down the Tube Station at Midnight
Pharcyde - Soul Flower

Book - LA Trilogy, James Ellroy

Luxury Item - Radio

Top of my head....

Suspicious Minds - Elvis Presley.
Arrival of the Queen of Sheba - Handel
I am the Ressurection - The Stone Roses
Landed - Ben Folds
America (from West Side Story) - Berstien/Sondheim.
Stay Free - The Clash
Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns - Mother Love Bone.
Going Underground - The Jam.

Book - a very large one that I've not read.

Luxury item - lots of sleeping pills. Because after i've finished the book it'd be lights out.

I suppose reading through this thread would be a good idea as I'm going to be spending a week on a desert Island doing **** all at the expense of the British Taxpayer. I'll send you a postcard if you want.

Much Love.
