I did not know Sid but i had heard stories of Roots Hall being built.
In the late 60s early 70s i used to take the train from Billericay and meet George Wilson
Who was alongside Sid one of the loyal supporters who helped build the ground.
George died some time ago now but was still travelling to watch southend games well into his 80’s.
He passed over to me his collection of old Southend United handbooks that are now gathering dust under he stairs.

RIP Sid you will be long remembered

Quite simple, no Sid = no Roots Hall, Arguably should be at the head of The Hall of Fame.
