We both got a survey from Southend Utd FC and Southend Utd Community & Educational Trust today. The survey was targeted at supporters 65 and over and asked questions about how/if we had suffered from loneliness during the lockdown and offering a weekly phone call if we wanted it. There was also an invite to a series of small activity sessions run by the partnership. These sessions were by booking only and there are 3 sessions held over three weeks. Refreshments are included and attendance is free.

Now we don't need to take advantage of this offer but it was very heartening that the Club are making this gesture at a very difficult time in the Clubs existence. Well done Southend.

I too received this survey and couldn't agree more with RH comments.Especially in these difficult times with Covid and what's happening with our club.Sometimes the club is criticised and rightly so but credit is due here an excellent community based gesture

I know that several of these have been sent out and several returned and totally agree that it is the gesture that is what matters and for people that may require it it could be a lifeline for them.

The Community Trust is currently undertaking a “Tackling loneliness” programme which includes the above but also they are trying to support people who live alone who require some help and support ie. online shopping etc, etc.

If you get the survey please return it even if you don’t want the service
