A friend of mine is in construction. His Estimating dept came to him with an online tender lead, for the

"Demolition of a football stadium, and the new build of a sainsburys, and 267 no. units."
He then called me all excited like. But this is not even first stage tendering as yet, but all the same it is exciting.

Just passing on the news.

I am in Construction specialising in tendering - just cos a project goes out to tender or in this case pre-tender does not mean that it will go ahead - it could be the start of a long process (even longer than it has taken already):nope:

Would this be the tender process that Chairman Ron said was nearly complete about a year ago?:hilarious:

No , that was the Tender for the stadium, this is Sainsburys Tender for their store

I have been under the impression for quite some time now that the demolition of RH couldn't take place until the 'new stadium' is built by which I believe it means there has to be a facility for a SUFC to continue to operate in this town. Forgive me if this is an over-simplification.

Now anyone who attended the Riverside Arena at the olympics where the hockey was held will know that it is entirely possible to build a 16,000 seater stadium using temporary materials - mostly scaffolding poles similar to the away end at Gillingham and plastic chairs similar to the ones they have but don't use at C**chester.

I can't imagine than Ronnie Martini has anything of this nature in his mind but if Sainsbury's start to get impatient about the start date for the store and another cash injection is urgently needed, we could find that they begin to examine ways of bringing the store start date forward.

Just a thought....
