Jaden Crowhurst did well in the games he started at the start of last season. A year on I hope he has progressed and gets more opportunities with us.

As a result of not paying our scholars our youth team is now emptied. Decimated wouldn’t begin to cover it.

Previously when under an embargo we’ve been able to lean on our academy to make up the numbers. Back in 2019- 2020 this meant our u23s and players like Miles Mitchell-Nelson, Tom Clifford, Terrell Egbri, Eren Kinali and Lewis Gard: players who had graduated from the scholarship and were on u23 contracts. But now we don’t just not have an u23s but our scholars, the level below that, have deserted, fed up with not being paid.

It’s difficult to know who exactly has moved elsewhere, who is just injured or who is withholding labour until they are paid but those in red are unaccounted for so it seems like we have just two second year scholars (who have been second years for a matter of weeks) remaining. When we dip into the youth team it may have to be for players just turned 16 and not the 19 or 20 year olds it was in recent years.
