Obviously the difference being that NK know no different to the status quo so have no alternative on which to build a choice that a leap of faith would require. I'm surprised that passed you by.

That's not a leap of faith but based on a fundamental misunderstanding of how the world works. It completely ignores globalisation and the rise of corporations. Outside of North Korea, and a few ostrich holes where people can bury their heads, the world is interlinked. Our financial destiny isn't tied just to Europe, but to the rest of the world (eg see the effect of the US sub-prime crisis). To suggest otherwise is risible.
