The Fish House at Fossetts?

Off topic, but biggest one i've witnessed caught on a boat, was out of Brightlingsea in 78.
Guy on board caught a 10lb 6oz one on ragworm.
Late 70's the 'Towers' used to be a good area for them.
People have caught them that size in the estuary in recent years, including around the towers.

About 3 years ago a local lad caught one 13lb over by the Medway. He sent a snap and it was a monster

It may not make a lot of sense for some businesses to open over at Fossets until the housing development is well underway - then they'll have customers 7 days a week

And when the houses are built on Roots Hall The Fish House will do just fine without football.

Sad thing is, that won't have been caught from the local Thames estuary. Incidently back in the 70's & 80's when i used to use the local charter boats ( there were a decent amount back then, Bass as well ), they were just referred to as 'Bass'. When was the word 'Sea' added to their description?.
Agreed. It will be sea cod, sea haddock, and sea plaice next.

Plenty of bass in the estuary, just not caught locally. Started to become popular eating in the 80’s with tv chefs leading the way. Guessing they became sea bass to distinguish them from their big-mouth American cousins, in the same way sea bream are so named to avoid confusion with the freshwater species.

Other than top end restaurants and fishmongers sea bass are now farmed, mainly in the Mediterranean.

Funny, that's the same reason we're called British.
