There is a footballer some of you may not be aware of who is a huge hero of mine. Sadly he is no longer with us, this man is regarded by many as the best all rounder the British Isles have ever produced. A player world class at both centre back and centre forward and mentioned in the same breath as Pele and Maradona by Bobby Robson. A player that was so good he was kicked all game long yet was never booked or sent off. His accomplishments with Juventus led to him being voted 'the greatest foreign player ever in Serie A', ahead of Maradona, Michel Platini, Marco Van Basten and Zinedine Zidane - this in 1997

His name is John Charles and he has just been voted into the greatest Juventus 11 ever. If you haven't heard of him please take a few moments to find out a little more about him. A great player, a great sportsman and a great man

RIP John

Oh I think there's a few of us around with memories long enough to know about him. Undoubtedly one of the greats.

I met him once, many years ago in Peter Lorimer's pub (A VERY long story!) & he was a genuine & friendly bloke. Old school & took time to talk to everybody who approached him.

Respect!

A truly great player - only saw him play the once, when Leeds played at Bury in the 62/63 season.

Truly one of the all time greats indeed. Worth reading up on if you really are unfamiliar with him.
