The Longest hour....

Shrimp in a Kilt

Guest
I think the longest Hour of all
Is when the fans have come --
And we are waiting for the players --
It seems as though the Time

Indignant -- that the Joy was come --
Did block the Gilded Hands --
And would not let the Seconds by --
But slowest instant -- ends --

The Pendulum begins to count --
Like little Scholars -- loud --
The steps grow thicker -- in the Hall --
The Heart begins to pound --

Then I -- my Internet connection done --
Tho' for compensation 'tis not good--
Take up my pint of best --
And further North -- do pray.

(With many apologies to Emily Dickinson)

The longest hour, but hopefully not the longest day!

I hope you had a beer in hand when you swallowed that poetry book!

Excuse my ignorance... but who is Emily Dickinson?

She'd be one of the greatest American poets that ever lived. Born, wrote and died in the 1800's and devoted her life to her works.

Nicely adapted, Kilty!

Pretty obvious really! I knew that... NOT!

I liked the Scottish Overtures in Kilty's version.

Thank you kind sirs... I couldn't resist it because the poem already had the reference to "...the Hall", an omen surely!

I bet if she was alive, she'd be smiling and bursting with pride!

Top work that man.
