Just seen the best argument that it definitely happened - the USSR would have torn the USA apart if they even had a sniff that it had been faked. They tracked Apollo 11 and knew it was happening for real.

Unless the Russians were in on it. The way the world was run by the super powers changed after the moon landings, including Russia. Exposing the facade would have had the same negative effect on Russia as it would have had on the USA

Not sure I get your point? I'm talking about if Russia had found about it was faked 10 years down the line and they had already benefitted from it. Exposing it at that point would have been catastrophic for both super powers.
Irrelevant anyway as it happened.

How they got a communication signal to the moon I'll never know though as I struggle to get a phone signal in rural Essex

50 years ago....can you imagine the feelings of those brave men and their families? Michael Collins alone, wondering if his companions would survive their moon landing and return? The whole feeling of wondering if they would survive landing back on earth? The TV documentary the other night tried to capture some of that.....
