The Never Ending Story.....

Lord Football

Blues on Tour
It's been a month or thereabouts since Kevin Bond packed his ridiculous shoes (don't tell me I wasn't the only one to notice them) and Harry's Special Roly Poly and left for pastures new. Since then we appear to have entered some kind of Twilight World where Henrik Larsson is about to be announced at the same Adam Barrett is about to be announced. And then there is Sol. Oh, wait Neil Harris. And so it goes on. Seemingly forever.

The longest running saga in football. Or is it.....

Here are few sagas that last longer... play along, add to the list whilst we fill the time between the next flurry of "you'll never guess who is being interviewed now".

1. Southend United's annual kit reveal, which pretty much happens the week before the season. This then leads to...
2. Southend United's away kit goes on sale at some time after the first away game of the season.
3. Southend United's first signing of the summer. Usually announced in early days of August, just in time get his name printed on his shirt. But crucially, not in time to know any of his new mates's names. This in part lead to....
4. Southend United's wait for a first league win of the season. This year, that came in mid September.

Now I think about it, they've all got something in common....

The new ground!! Nothing will ever be as long a running saga as that.

Never trust a man with silly white soles on his shoes.

Appointing a CEO will make far more of a long-term difference to the future of this football club than appointing a new manager.

CEO doesn't actually pick the players we sign. Ron obviously feels he can negotiate the deals himself

They weren't those. They were more the Beach Boys decking pumps, like these.

Ive very sadly come to the conclusion that there will be no new ground and am very concerned as to where that leaves the club and Ron Martin; This is deadly serious for the longer term existence of our club IMO

That's a bit of a rash decision after only 17 years.
