The referee for tomorrow night's early kick off at the rather nicely appointed stadium of the rather nastily created MK Dons, is Oliver Langford from Darlaston, near Walsall in the West Midlands.

In just his second season as a Football League referee, he has only refereed Southend once before. It was the dreadful match (until the last minute anyway) at Leyton Orient. He didn't excel, but like last Tuesday did better than the players. Again like last Tuesday, he seemed to find it easier to caution away players with Barrett, Cristophe and Grant being cautioned (Macca wasn't playing).

Last season his caution count was commendably low, but he obviously knows what's needed to get on and has almost doubled it this season. Recently rewarded with his first Championship match. Last Saturday he refereed Alex Revell's moment of glory when he matched almost a previous whole year's worth of goals in the space of about 70 minutes.

Wade Norcott from Harlow and David Rock from Hertford will be assisting with Steve Phipps from Oxford doing the 4th official stuff.
