“Southend United Football Club have submitted advertisement and listed building consent applications to Southend Borough Council to hang two large banners along the side of Southend Pier. The banners would read “Delivering another Landmark” and “Be Part Of It””

According to Planning on Sea.

Assume Ron’s not too worried about losing £2 million a year then...

Will be good to see SUFC related advertising in a major part of our town. Much better than looking at the awful Spurs shop and hordes of claret and blue shirts!

Some of those girls that 'peddle their wares' down York Road could be fitted with a sandwich board letting their clients know about the club. They could keep it on whilst providing a service. I am sure there is someone out there with a fetish for that. Eh? Only me?

 .. A sandwich board with the words "Be Part of It - Come On, You Know You Want To! :winking:"

This has to be a wind up, “Delivering another Landmark” is false advertising to start with!

Weird place to put and pay for the banners. The only people that will see them are day trippers and bait diggers. Not the intended targets.

It's Ambleside Drive these days not York Road. Apparently. So somebody said. Ahem.

We will most probley be advertising for volunteers to start building it very soon eh:smile:

Caz Turner hasn’t got a clue:

No way - terrible idea leave the pier alone stop ruining southend - not everything revolves around football.

EVERYTHING REVOLVES AROUND FOOTBALL!!!!

This is quite a good indicator if you ask me. Get approval to put the banners up by the council and it looks favourable for planning approval. Get knocked back and it's potentially bad news.

Maybe the club are just testing the water in a clever way?
