After Dave stated that the Tories are the ‘party of working people’, I found this particular honours headline in the i newspaper quite a contrast.

Knighthood for high-interest loans boss who charges the poor 74% APR - and gave £7m to the Conservatives.

Great to see Big Jim Montgomery get the British Empire Medal , Jim was unlucky to be around when there seemed to be a lot of good goalkeepers around , any other time he would of been EnglandsNumber One .

Not sure about a knighthood for Lenny Henry myself, though I heartily approve of the British Empire Medal for Katie Cutler.

Service to comedy maybe not, but his charity work, particularly comic relief surely merits it.

I agree his work with charity, and Comic Relief in particular, has been immense but seriously, a knighthood? :stunned:

Why not?

He founded a charity that's raised £1,047,083,706 for good causes.

Sir Bob Geldolf, Sir Jimmy Saville, Sir Ian Botham etc have all been knighted for their services to charity

I just think knighthoods are given away far too easily both to celebs and to ex-MPs, personal opinion.

According to wikipedia CR has raised £1,047,083,706 since it started. I would say he's far more deserving than someone like David Amess.

If a honour was offered to me (wich I v much doubt) I turn it down
