The Simple Solution To Our Lack Of Width

Ok well, i for one, want gower and maher out, so lets say we take these two out of the equation.

You move pettefer into the middle, as when he plays a central role he looks good, and has good link ups with mark bentley, both of which can make bursting runs through the middle when gaps appear. Nicky Nicolau can play on the left because we all know he has proved himself out on the left on many occassions, he provides good balls after beating a man with his pace, and he can be a free kick and corner specialist. Then you have Luke Guttridge on the right, he looks a bit useful, and well lets face it, cant be as bad as maher or gower!!!

I know both maher and gower have proved themselves before to be great assets to the club, but when their playing badly, dont you think its time for a change???

I think Nicolau in is a must for friday, i would not make two changes for one game though. I would leave Maher for the time being, and let him show us he deserves to be there, as before sunday he was doing alrite, but Gower has had his chance and has been disappointing for a couple of months, since injury.

As for Carl Pettefer, i would tell him to do what he was doing on sunday, and keep that going

Shrimper2thecore i was thinking long term here, what do you reckon???

If by long term, you mean next season, then i can see that you view could work wonders. I do not feel Maher can be the same force in league 1. With pre-season to try Pettefer in the middle, we could go with that. We all know we have a fantastic replacement skipper, in Adam "LEADER" Barrett, so that would not be an issue.

Nicolau Pettefer Bentley Guttridge

I like it

Also this bring Pettefer and Wilson closer together, and they link well, also so do Nicky and Carl, as we saw to the back end of last year when Nicolau was left back, and Petts left wing.

A yellow card in your first 11 posts. Thats quite impressive.

Anyhow Maher & Gower out for Orient. You do talk some crap.

up until yesterday we were unbeaten in what, about 17 or 18 games. we lose one in extra time and all of a sudden we need to change half the midfield.

I'll leave it up to Tilly. He hasn't let us down yet.

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

First of all Guttridge is NOT a wide player, he's a central midfielder. Secondly, replace Maher with Petts in the middle and bang goes any sort of passing or creativity in the middle. Jesus, some people can't see past their rose tinted spectacles can they!?

ok, maybe i overstepped the mark quite a way, we have been doing well and all credit to the team they kept up the pace for as long as they could. But surely you can see that gower has been posing problems for a while now, since he ame back from his injury he hasnt been at his best. I did think a few games and he might be back playing the flowing football we have come to expect from him, maybe i just expect to much from such a gifted player, i dont know, but surely nicolau deserves a chance, after all he proved himself to be a strong player before!!!

I'm not talking about Gower, afterall, I said in my ratings thread that I think Gower should be dropped after his recent performances. I'm talking about this crazy idea you have of replacing Maher with Pettefer.

as i said, maybe i overstepped the mark quite a way, or did you not see that bit!!!

Replace Pettefer with a winger!

Gower has not been at his best since injury,I would love to see Nicky given another chance and maybe Gower should reflect for a while on the bench, he come out fighting, like Flavs did after Bart got injured. Still not confident with Wilson at the back, thought he was our worst defender yesterday.

Maher was outplayed yesterday by their midfield, which showed in his fatigue. However,it is worrying this was the case when Wrexham are likely for the drop and we appear to be going up. Wonder how long Maher would be included in the team if he put in a similar performance week in week out in League 1.

I'd like to see nicolau and gower (when he's at his best) as our wide men. But petts is playing too well to drop him at the moment IMO.

I also think that that cheer when gower was substituted yesterday was outragous. Ok, we were glad that he was coming off, but imagine what that did to his confidence!
