The Tokyo Olympic Games 2021

There’s the 5th guaranteed boxing medal with Frazer Clarke winning his bout.

Ben Whittaker and Pat McCormack both through to the final.

If you haven’t seen any of Ben Whittaker’s interviews it’s worth a watch. The bloke is a real character and if he turns pro will be great fun!

I do wonder how Clarke will cope with both of his eyes carrying cuts. It must be a psychological worry for the bloke? Loved the Frenchman's reaction to his decision, really sportsmanlike.

Absolutely pathetic and he’s done that to Clarke on numerous occasions previously. Those eyes will be the targets for Clarke’s next opponent and is always the case with fighters carrying cuts into fights. He will have to adapt his plan going into the fight but with Rob McCracken he has an excellent coach.

Zharnel Hughes false starts in the 100m final. Bit annoying, as he did it in the heats and Reece Prescod did it in the semis. Wait for the ****ing gun! Anyway, well done to the Italians on gold.

Interesting comparison of medals gained in previous Olymics versus now.

Exciting men’s high jump final. Loving the confidence and energy of the competitors.
And what an outcome. Sportsmanship of the highest quality. This from the BBC.

An incredible Olympic high jump final ended with both Qatar's Mutaz Essa Barshim and Italy's Gianmarco Tamberi taking gold medals.

After an exhausting two-hour competition, the pair couldn't be split, having recorded best clearances of 2.37 metres.
The athletes were offered an opportunity to take part in a jump-off.

But in a moment of sportsmanship, they agreed to share the title, sparking huge celebrations.

Both had three failures as they attempted to match the Olympic record of 2.39m and, with error-free records on countback, could have fought for sole possession of the title.

Instead, they made history - it was the first joint Olympic podium in athletics since 1912.

Anyone see the Australian riders handle bar come off in the velodrome this morning?

Yes. Loads of people.

:Winking:
Incredible he didn’t hurt himself more than he did. Carbon fibre is one of the strongest materials used on those bikes takes a lot for something to fail.

Unless there was a weakness in the manufacture...that said, they showed a close up, it was incredibly thin.

I tell you what, though. He was lucky he was at the back when that happened.
