Oh dear. I'm off to slit my wrists. I think their one and only album is probably the second-most overrated album of all time (after Pet Sounds). Rubbish.

I suspect Mr Stokes was implying that The Verve are a 'one album band'. "Urban Hymns" is certainly outstandingly bad.

See? I'm, a big music fan (note: not fascist) and I didn't even know they'd released more than one! Why? Because their 'major' one was such pure, unadulerated, droning toss with more 'filler' tracks than ever seen before (including the majority of the singles), that I never considered giving them houseroom again. This Time is the only track I'll ever bother listening to again out of choice.
On a further note, Ashcroft's solo work has also been utter bollocks.

Personally I think some of Ashcroft's solo stuff is marvellous. Particularly the latest album.

I'd rather listen to a Self Help Book on Audio Tape... It'd probably have a similar effect.
