The Women's World Cup.

If its down to rule bending !!
Its a France v Germany final then !!!

I remember a few years ago when a former ref said he was wined and dined by an official from FIFA, on behalf of Sepp Blatter, and he wasn't asked directly to fix a game, but it was suggested to him who they wanted in the final from his semi-final. If they was happy,(meaning the right team going through), he would be picked to ref for them again at much bigger payments.

Sounds like Scotland are the latest victim of the overly pedantic 'stay on the line' rules for penalties.

Not only that, but the VAR for the penalty foul, and then the VAR to see if the goalie moved from her line took forever. Jonathan Pearce even joked during the England game that all that was taking forever in the Scotland game and seems to have taken 25 minutes so far to sort out.
For some strange reason, the ref didn't add on all that VAR stoppage time, estimated by a sports journalist to be about 10 minutes. WTF? How can that happen in any World Cup? When the ref blew for the end of the game, the players thought it was for something else. Both teams knew they had a lot more time to try and score the winner. They couldn't believe it, nor could the commentator.

Been the worst tournament I can remember for the poor officiating and VAR decisions some of which have been bizarre. Just from watching on the box last night it was a blatent penalty to the Argies, why it then needed umpteen minutes for 4-5 idiots to stare at their screens was ridiculous.

The Scots should have won by seeing the game out from 3-0 but were just good enough.

Looking at the saved Nikita Parris penalty the Argentina keeper has quite clearly moved off her line as the ball is kicked.....wonder why the VAR boffins decided to ignore that?

I'd pity any team that has to face France what with all the assistance they've been given so far.

Hmm, so we have the three top ranked teams in the world all in the same side of the draw, USA (1) France (2) and England (3)......whilst Germany (4) are the highest ranked in the other side. Smacks of an blatant fix by the footballing hierarchy.

true...
a bit like the WC in Russia, where England had that luck, but mucked up in the s/f...Germany had the "evil" side of the draw and under performed.
That underperformed German team would still have beaten Southgates England, but thats life
AGAIN,what you write seems more true than false.
Look at the u-21s draw,Germany got the easiest group by far, although if we had got that group,we would have still cocked it up.
If you get that luck(as Germany often do) use it,they use it,England cannot/dont

The German capitulation generated the best bit of photoshopping I had seen for ages just after they were knocked out.

Yep! I'm amazed that we beat Japan, or maybe England are a better side than Japan?
Much like the men's Japanese team they are very tidy on the ball (their passing is miles better than what we see at Roots Hall) but suffer from a lack of height in the team, a lot of our chances came from us outmuscling them in 50/50s or from playing balls over the top and then beating them in a race. Netherlands seem to be trying to pass it around on ground and Japan's defence seems very well drilled on their positioning so it isn't really working.

They need to change the handball rules back to the way they were before the tournament, it's getting stupid now.

So disappointing. Predictable that we’ll see attacking players now looking for this. It’s crept into the game anyway, but aiming at hands is now going to become strategy.

Better team lost, there was only ever going to be a winner if it had gone into extra-time. A record number of penalties has now been awarded in a WWC finals. Oddly the Chinese weren’t awarded one earlier today when their player was kicked in the head by an Italian girl.

The England women's squad are battling a virus, FFS. We don't want too many of the first team not playing against Norway, or some playing on about 70% energy.

So the England women's team are obviously going to win the World cup. Well done ladies. On the way in the semi-final, who would you like us to give a jolly good thrashing, France or the USA? For me, it's France. As someone else said on here, they are like Scotland, in that their people cheer on everyone that we play, as proved in the earlier games in this World cup. They just don't like us. If that's how they want it, we can stick it to them on their home turf, and knock them out.

USA all the way. The No.1 team in the world. Put down a marker for the final that'll probably be v Germany.
