With nothing left to play for and it being very unlikely we could go down, is now the time for EVERY supporter to stand up to Mr Martin and show their disgust at how he has insulted players, staff and fans with his latest comments ?

I would suggest a total boycott for one home game.

I will not enter into a slanging match with those who consider this to be "hurting the club".

The club is almost at an end and people need to wake up to this fact. We can all rant on here or we can do something constructive to show our feelings that does not involve juvenile chanting and threats of violence.

I would suggest if we are safe then the boycott should be on the last home game of the season.

Perhaps unsurprisingly I'm not going to boycott that game. I'm flying over specifically for it and am very much looking forward to it.

A protest needs to have a clear objective. RM & TB must know that their actions aren't popular. They monitor this site, TB has met with Cricko & McNasty, the AGM is coming which is another chance for people to remind RM how unpopular he is. Boycotting a game probably won't cause significant harm to the Club but I don't see that it will do any good either. RM will likely just shrug his shoulders and then go on holiday.

As far as I can see there's only two ways out of this mess for Southend:
1) RM gets us to Fossetts Farm, ultimately builds the Main Stand, the casino and the flats and the revenue from these allows us to stabilise and untimately move forward.
2) RM sells up to someone else who then uses their own finances to prop up the Club.

I don't see either as being likely but if people aren't willing to wait for option 1 then I guess that leaves option 2 and that, IMO, is what any protest should be targetted towards achieving. I don't think a boycott is the best way to achieve that.

If it helps I'm not paying for my ticket on friday. Those decent chaps at Heineken are kindly entertaining Swiss and I for nothing over with the Prawn Sandwich Brigade. I hope Martini's bouffant doesn't obscure my view.

If everyone boycott's the last home game its quite likely we wont have the money to pay the players over the summer, and if that happens it could be the final straw for players such as Mohsni, Grant, Hall & Barker. I kinda wanna see them in a Southend shirt next season. A boycott to show Ron we don't like him seems a bit pointless, as he knows that already.

I am up for both boycott and protest. How about the good Friday game?

What sort of message would chanting send to the players? If you want to boycott then make it the first match of the new season, once we have a team signed up, not encouraging them to escape!

Unlikely as we are only getting about 1,000 walk ins, the rest of the attendence is made of the pre-paid (or not as it appears) Season Card holders. Even if that figure doubled due to it being the last game of the season, that's 32k (16*2k as an assumption). With the wage budget reported as 1.3m, the monthly bill is about 108k, 324k for the 3 summer months. The 32k potential lost from the boycott is under 10% of what's required and isn't really going to impact the clubs ability to pay the players over the summer. So the financial implications of a boycott are not really that significant.

What is staggering is the amount, 324k to pay players for the close season. Scary for a club that struggles to pay their players during the season. If you factor in tax, you'd need c1100 season tickets paid in full just to cover the wages for this period.

Well seeing as they've been messed about with their wages allegedly I doubt they'll be too fussed. By all accounts they're as fed up as we are with our perfectly coiffed chairman.

Given the state of things, even without a boycott, I think it would be more realistic to halve the number rather than double it.

**** the message!!!!!

This situation is much much bigger then the players!!!!

Yep agree. This should of been done at the end of last season for the last 5 home games. Its a year late but im hoping people will understand this club will only go downwards with Martin here. MARTIN OUT!!!!

I'm not going to boycott anything. The players pull on the Blue shirts and I'll support them for that. My 8 year old is a season card holder too and I have mentioned the goings on to him and the boycott issue and his question was why would you not go to a game if the nasty man isnt on the pitch, it's the footballers you go to see?

Out of the mouth of babes...

You ask a question but then say you will not enter into a slanging by which I assume you mean a discussion with fans with other views. Maybe the question mark needs to be removed?

Boycotts just put the clubs finances even further at risk and push us deeper into trouble, it will have no affect on Ron Martin staying or leaving and could even cause further wage problems.

Protests are a different matter but Id suggest one before/after the game would have more impact than the odd chant..

I wouldnt say boycott, but i would say that some sort of noise directed at the man himself.
