Why is everyone so negative?
Surely for the right person ( Rigsby ?) this is an opportunity for someone to make the case for "we don't know the facts" etc etc etc.and try and show that the club hasn't necessarily done anything wrong. The problem is the club has made a half arsed statement which has given the media so much ammunition. From the statement anyone looking for a story reads 'guy works for firm for 27 years and gets fired for circumstances outside of his control. At best the media will take it as "guy works for firm for 27 years and makes ONE error of judgement in carrying out his duties which leads to his termination ". Neither look great.

I just want to add my support to our groundsman, mistakes happen after 27 loyal year he deserves better, than RM throwing his toys out of the pram, or possibly and more likley he did not have the right equipment in the first place, thats down to RM, well I hope the southend board reconsider 27 years in some loyalty from his employers.

Listen, I could comment on the South stand tea bar, the West stand toilets and even the onions in the burgers. I could maybe sing a live version of 'the Sloop John B' in a duo with PB, but Ken Hare.......Never heard of him until this week.

I personally stand by Ken, for any one that has been around the club, will know what a great job he does, we have had one of the best pitches outside the premier league, this is without the resources other clubs get, like players have done in the past, he has more than likely gone without pay at some point. Who stood up to the club, and said the pitch was not ready for the West Spam friendly? Who got praise from the club the week before on the job that he was doing, oh then all of a sudden removed? I know there was heaters and covers on the pitch ask anyone who lives in the flats about the noise from the heaters.
