The 34 year old much travelled striker has been tempted back to UniBond League Division One South club Stamford by manager Tuncay Korkmaz.

As well as Southend, Battersby turned out for Sheffield U, Notts County, Bury and Lincoln in the FL and the likes of Hucknall, Gravesend, Stevenage, AFC Wimbledon, Grays and Corby Town in non-league.

A big lumbering donkey yes, but always appeared to give his all. The fact he's managed to earn some kind of living as a footballer despite his obvious lack of ability is testament to his hard work - I applaud him for that!
