TV Highlights Torquay Utd 1-0 Southend Utd

Amazing how 2 minutes of highlights can be so dull. Sympathy with those who watched the rest.

Atkinson. Mentioned in another thread that he seemed unaware of the scorer, he knew has was there alright, but simply trundled as the cross came in while their fella sprinted towards the ball.

Who was that at the back post just ambling back and not even trying to get goalside?
As Whispering Bob mentions. That was Atkinson. He looked over his shoulder and registered the goal scorer was there, but then got caught on his heels ball watching as the cross came in, allowing him to steal in unmarked to tap home at the back post. Very poor and a classic example of the basics not being done properly.

You could of course argue that the cross should of never arrived and that is true. But if Atkinson tracks his runner, we probably get away from Plainmoor with a point. But as we know neither was the cross stopped or the runner tracked. Simply woeful defending all round.

And that shows the fine margins between getting the sack in the morning and telling the Echo things are improving!

sadly ATKINSON is way over the hill yes he has a short term contract .But players of the past should stay in the past .There must have been younger hungry fitter players out there to look at rather than bringing players back who had it days gone past .But sadly dont have it anymore .
