Trials at SUFC

McNasty

The Centre of Excellence is holding trials for the Under-7s to the Under-16s. More details on OS.

I thought the picture of the Men-In-Black standing behind the Man giving a Nasty salute could be a bit off-putting.

i'd be tempted of course, but its a bit too late for me and im not sure if it'd be worth it. Im quite the decent footballer though.

If only they had done this is my day. I would have been the proudest boy in the county as I stepped onto the hallowed turf in my £7.99 Gola's.......

Anyone know when the 26-27 aged group is ?.

I thought the centre of excellence was already pretty full after the last set of trials.

Did this last year although im too old now. Would definately recommend it to any one who is young enough. Good coaching aswell by Duncan and Hobbs

How good do you have to be to get in? i reckon if i'd been trained like beckham & co. had id easy get in a league 2 side if not higher. Ive never had that coaching so cannot say what my true potential is.

The standard was actually pretty high when i went although if you play regularly u might have had a chance of getting in.

However if you did get in under the under 16's category, it would have been very hard to stay in the COE for more than a year as you would have been put into the under18's at SUFC then its virtually the reserve set up after that.

i had quite a few mates at school who went through various youth setups at SUFC and other clubs, the main thing it comes down to is luck more than anything... you always hear about a star player (like freddy) who was dropped as a youth teamer, but you still obviously have to be pretty good to get to the under 18 level

Ye, a lot of the players who attended the open trial were from counties around essex like kent and surrey etc. Only a small minority were actually from this area.

Also only about 2 youth teamers actually make it pro and all the others just get released
