The Shrimpers Trust was delighted to see that one of Southend United's most famous and revered players cares about our clubs' fate enough to have got involved with supporters in trying to address the decline of our football club.

The Trust unreservedly welcomes involvement from any individual that has the best interests of the club at heart. SOS's actions in getting Stan Collymore's request for fan communication addressed so quickly, is to be applauded.

Trust Chairman Paul FitzGerald was delighted to be invited to attend to represent our members.

We, like all fans, were disappointed to learn that Stan and Ron were unable to talk yesterday but were of course pleased it had been re-arranged. With the latest outpouring from Stan this meeting no longer looks likely.

The issues raised by Stan will nevertheless live beyond this short period and we look forward to helping address them with other fan groups going forward.

The Club Statement yesterday, merely confirms supporters' views that the Chairman has not been listening. Regardless of the content contained, the manner and timing of delivery has merely inflamed what has become an increasingly vitriolic situation.

The Trust urges restraint and does not encourage any protest that is not respectful and law abiding, that said whilst we do not encourage protesting at this time, we respect fans rights to do so.
