..with another quality performance which meant you couldn't berate the referee, which is the only enjoyment I've been getting at Roots Hall lately.

When I saw he was the ref I wondered whether a Prem ref would side with the Prem players but I thought he did an outstanding job, even the booking of Darryl, if a little stupid and maybe not an understanding of the situation, was his way of showing he wasn't going to stand for any time wasting (oh to have that type of firmness taken against Hull's keeper last week)

Sky ridiculously tried to give Man U a penalty for a clash of heads between Sodje and Rooney in the box but not even Alex Ferguson picked up on that one!

That was probably to do with the fact that Sodje went in with his elbow, but Rooney didn't do himself any favours by going down clutching the back of his neck even though the elbow went in on his back.
