Hey people of ShrimperZone who are nerdier than I am with computers,

Trying to install a webcam for the other computer downstairs for my sister, and everytime I plug it in it goes to the Found New Hardware Wizard. After clicking on "install the software automatically" it fails, and shows the message "The data is invalid". It does this with everything else that's plugged into the USB slot. Just updated the SP to SP3, I have no idea why it's doing this and it's driving me crazy! Can't find the original OS disc either to repair it.

Any help will be much appreciated and rewarded with a life time supply of green.

Cheers
Dan

You're trying to spy on your sister with a webcam..... sicko!!

Cheers, will try that and it looks hopeful as it's worked for many people with the same problem. Only thing is getting the bugger to work, every time I try and delete an entry the computer freezes! It's a heap of ****!

Question 1: How Old is your sister?

If the answer is 17+, Proceed to Question 2.

Question 2: Is she hot?

If the answer is Yes, Proceed to Question 3.

Question 3: What's her eMail or msn address?

Are you deleteing thru regedit? You may need to run with regedt32 if there are permission issues.
