Vanarama praised for helping out Grimsby and Solihull as National League get criticised

Remember Grimsby 2020/21 season? The one club that finished below us in the football league.

Well, they’re going straight back up first time of asking. And we are not.

I have not heard anyone say this season that Grimsby are a very good side but they found a way to get the job done. And we didn’t.

We should hang our heads in shame.

They managed to finish 6th. A place that far to many of our fans would dismiss before a ball is kicked.

Well done to Grimsby because they are a great example that you get prizes for how you finish in May/June rather than September. We are a long way off scoring 5 goals at Wrexham to win a semi.

We are not a long way off finishing 6th. Let’s hope we don’t have yet another season of injuries. That was yet again our biggest problem last season. The PB myth on here is now cast in stone. We had players of all ages not available including Kev’s new boys.

We already have a good basic squad of at least 15. So it’s not wether sign X, Y or Z before the end of June. Avoiding injury and good loaners down the centre will be the key to next season.

This Soviet style revisionism where PB is concerned is really not good enough. As Userorange correctly pointed out. Grimsby were relegated from L2 below us and have now bounced back at the first attempt via the playoffs, at the first attempt.Congratulations to them.We haven't,QED.Had PB not been appointed at the beginning of last season and the current management trio been appointed then, instead it might have been us making the playoffs.Who knows? The Chairman has always liked a strong manager to deflect attention away from himself and PB certainly fits that category. What's clear is that PB's return to management at Southend was a disaster for him personally and also for us too.Still after his sacking at Barrow he'll presumably now get plenty of time to finally write those memoirs he's promised before as there would seem to be little realistic prospect of another L2 club (or anyone higher) taking a chance on him now.
