Capershotts (Waltham Abbey’s ground) was subject to a pitch inspection at 3.00pm this afternoon and was past fit for play. So it is now ready for action at 19.45pm Wednesday 28th November, it looks like we are going to have an overcast evening with the possibility of some light rain during the game.

Wiggle it, Just a Little Bit!

Lively start by the young Southend side good crowd too considering the rainswept night

Wabo shoots.

Shrimpers have the first attempt on goal as Norman Wabo latches onto Harry Phillips’ simple pass and draws a save from Lamar Johnson at the near post.

GOAL. 10 minutes in and Waltham Abbey take the lead. Harry Seaden fails to claim Rob Clark’s free-kick and Billy Holland makes sure the ball crosses the goal-line.

Ba finds Wabo on the edge of the ‘D’ but his skidding strike is saved besides the left-hand post by Johnson

Phillips plays in Wabo whose cross is tapped home by Kinali but the goal is ruled out for offside.

Penalty to Waltham Abbey, foul by Sam Knock

GOAL: WALTHAM ABBEY 2-0 Southend United - Billy Holland (26' pen)

It wasn't long ago Rene Batlokwa was starting in the Checkatrade v Cambridge. Eight of that starting line-up played last night (the other two were on the bench).

Now he can't even get a start for the u23s in the Essex Senior Cup :Stunned:

Woodwork! Wabo’s superb run ends with a pass to Harry Phillips and he curls the ball against the right-hand post from 20 yards out.

Frustrating first half. Plenty of good final balls, but we’re lacking the composure needed up top. Phillips has had a good first half and looks the pick of the bunch.
