Question Was Molesley the wrong choice?

I now believe although we have the worst squad jn football league history we are managed by a guy who is waaaaaay out of his depth. No contacts, no experience of league football management, no drive to get a team in the faces of others and make a fist of it. Im sure with a decent side and not the restraints he has here he could DEVELOP into a decent manager but he has shown he is 100 percent not what we needed. We needed a Luggy and we got a muggy

So what ? All good managers deserve another chance. And hes arguably the best manager we have ever had.
It's very telling that Tilson has never managed to re-capture the success he enjoyed with Southend to the point where he has dropped right out of the professional game. You are entitled to your view on him, but quite honestly I think you are living in the past.

Sol made it impossible to be kept on as manager after his antics with players other halves and club staff. He also alienated many players and did not wish to act managerialy. So what he 'achieved' counts for nothing.
MM is managing a poorer quality squad than was previously in place so of course it appears things have gone backwards. Because they have. But not just due to his changes.
He seems capable of learning from mistakes because we've stopped the tippy tappy out from the back to a certain extent. So I hope he will learn quickly that the current formations aren't working \improving fast enough.
For what it's worth I don't think akinola white and Macca will turn everything around. Hope im wrong of course but macca looked a lot more than a few yards short of adequate pace, rusty, and very unmatch fit. Akinola isn't the target man everyone's hoping for! Think he's one of those 'cut inside' players.
White could shore up the back line though but with lennon looking like he struggled, It may be a straight swap. So no improvement.
There isn't really a choice of sacking MM. Either for financial or other reasons.
In a similar way to quality players not fancying a risk with SUFC, neither would a proven manager. They can get better offers elsewhere.
So....I think it's stick with MM. yes he frustrates with strange choices, but at least he's trying hard and wants to be here and is learning at the same time as the younger players.
There are still very poor teams overtakeable within reach. We have a good dead ball specialist. A good pen taker and maybe with ANG and akinola a few in play goals.
it's going to be painful all season on and off the pitch. No surprise there though!.
I think we can survive in league 2. It might in part be at the expense of other clubs financial problems but this season was always going to involve more than just the actual football. Positive tests, winding ups etc.
as for tonight's game, I saw probably a sporadic 5 mins like everyone else it seems. Saw us hit the bar and saw their second. I'm not blaming JD Ox or Eggbri. We lost it trying to play half decent football in the last third of the pitch. Where we should be doing that. Ox had no chance and had to choose one or the other options. I've no idea if we deserved to win or lose thanks to ifollow. The SUFC of broadcasters ...with a cameraman to match.

There’s is absolutely no chance we will be a league club next season

How do we know he is still a good manager? He failed terribly at Lincoln and quickly dropped out of the game completely.
If u recall?Lincoln was in the same state as us right now,It was a truly difficult job to walk into the same situation as mark molsley is in.

I do recall, he didn't do a good job there and yet you want him to come in and do what exactly? Turn this sinking ship right around and earn us back to back promotions again?

Sol made it impossible to be kept on as manager after his antics with players other halves ???????? Sorry but what was that about

Molesley, Fagan, Currie, Barrett, Tilson... it’s irrelevant who got the job really as they’d have all suffered the same issues.

Could any one of them done better than MM? Maybe, but it’s all subjective really. They’d have all struggled in their own way, and our underlying problems would still have seen us in a relegation battle.

I’m just glad it isn’t another club legend who has to front this shambles.

At least Tilson's sides were never afraid to shoot on sight, we scored so many long range goals during his time.

I do feel for MM, he left a very good and safe job to come here. General consensus when he joined was that, regardless of what happened this season, relegation wouldn't be his fault. Then again, everyone on here said the same when Campbell came in last season too. Some of us are very quick to sharpen our knives when, let's be honest, this was a **** job to take in the first place. Yes he's made signings, but would they have been first choice ones?

It's a **** situation, and has been for years. I feel totally disillusioned with our club and, as much as we try, it's very hard to feel positive towards the team right now.

I'm very glad this isn't happening to Adam Barrett, that much is for sure.
