You nearly got in it. Would have been around the Bobby Moore line and would have been Field Mill, Kevin Hogg wearing shorts, Grimsby fog

Oooooohhhhhh! Field Mill, 1985 I believe!
Am not sure the Mansfield Town Secretary believed the "tipsy" bloke, in shorts, borrowed top (from a girl if I remember) who emerged from the mayhem (in my defence I was doing my job and trying to restore order) was ...his opposite number at the time.

A few words of advice from one R.F. Moore OBE on the Monday!!!

Fun days and so many memories in your lyrics..move over Joel!!!

Record it and it could be played before the teams come out at each match. We need a "theme tune" that gets the crowd going.

Mmm, excellent stuff for a record. Well done.

As for a terrace chant though I suspect TBV might get a tad lost after, lets be optimistic, half way through the second line. As for the drummer ............

Isn't there a couple of Shrimperzone members that are also musicians? "The Colours Between" rings a bell (as well as a guitar)...

Boxer Rebellion (drummer) I think.

It might be the kind of thing that the club might want to pursue if we get to the play-off Final (biggest 'IF' in history). Bit like the old Cup Final records that used to come out.

Mods, if appropriate move to Wembley Forum.

Anyway I emailed Steve Kavanagh with the idea of recording my original lyrics as a Wembley song, as in the old days of FA Cup Finals when clubs used to release "songs".

He has emailed me back, thus:

Firstly sorry for not responding earlier, the last few days have been quite hectic.

I have asked my Media and Communications manager to look into costs of recording and we are speaking to South Essex College about this. I haven’t yet had a response although I have discussed the idea with various supporters yesterday when I was walking the quite lengthy queue. I will be honest the response was less than lukewarm, I hasten to add I did not show them your lyrics which I have to say I am quite impressed with.

Once I have feasibility and costings then based on these we can asses if it is feasible. It is a long time since a Club did such a venture and in a way that could capture the imagination but we have to be realistic about where we invest our time and resources so it will need to be a compelling business model.

I am really appreciative of the effort and if we can make this work we will be in touch.

Kind regards

Steve

So, if any of you think it a go-er , and would be prepared to download or buy a CD of this, I suggest email the club to let Steve Kavanagh know.
