Thought I'd post this on Chit Chat hoping the mods don't mind. It's ex player related and can maybe be shifted to Ex Shrimpers tomorrow, but it is something genuinely significant for fans keen on SUFC history (and no it's not about us getting to 500 members, that will be significant and will happen soon but this is something just lovely instead). News at 8pm, gotta prep it first ....

So, this was what the fuss is about. Yes there are bigger issues at the moment, but we think this is worth celebrating:

TWEET SAYS:
We have just been in touch with the oldest former Southend United player still alive! After a huge amount of research, and a few wrong turns finding the wrong person along the way, it's a huge SUEPA welcome to 93 year-old Jimmy Thomson. Jimmy played for us 1956-59 and has many stories to tell so we will be interviewing him very soon. For now, the full story is NOW on: HERE

Excellent detective work. I never knew we had such a massive crowd v Brum, approaching official Liverpool in the cup kind of figures, amazing!
